The validation and evaluation process took place at the DomusVi nursing home in San Lรกzaro, Santiago de Compostela.
GiDii, a research project developed by Balidea in collaboration with IDMind, the University of Vigo, and the IDIS Foundation (Santiago Health Research Institute), reached an important milestone last week. The validation and evaluation process was completed with real users at the DomusVi residence in San Lรกzaro, Santiago de Compostela.
A virtual assistant for monitoring patients at home
The project, subsidised by the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) and funded by the Eurostars-3 programme of the European Union, consists of a virtual robotic assistant that enables patients to be monitored in their own homes. The aim is to establish a constant communication channel with patients via voice. GiDi uses language technologies and criteria established by healthcare professionals to monitor patients, classify them according to the severity of their condition, and implement personalised action protocols. This enables healthcare professionals to prioritise patients who require immediate attention.
Success of the pilot with real users
The DomusVi residence in San Lรกzaro, Santiago de Compostela, welcomed Balidea's R&D&I team to validate the system's usability and assess users' understanding of it in their own language. The process, which involved members of IDMind, the IDIS Foundation and DomusVi, was a complete success, with the centre's users showing great interest and enthusiasm in the solution.
