ISO 42001 certification provides a pioneering framework that ensures the ethical, safe and controlled development of artificial intelligence systems.

This achievement highlights the company's innovative approach and confirms its commitment to developing virtual assistants based on LLMs.

At a ceremony held at our headquarters in Santiago de Compostela, we received ISO/IEC 42001 certification from AENOR. This certification recognises our effective management of artificial intelligence systems in line with safety and responsibility criteria. This achievement places us at the forefront of the national technological innovation ecosystem, as we are the first technology company in Galicia and one of the first in Spain to receive this certification.

At the award ceremony, José Enrique Rodríguez Coello, AENOR's director in Galicia, presented the award to our CEO, Lorenzo Rodríguez Currais. Mr Currais described the certification as 'a great endorsement of our understanding of how artificial intelligence can be integrated into technological solutions that improve people's daily lives'. He added: ‘In the current context, where there is so much debate and uncertainty about AI, addressing its development and management is only possible by maintaining an ethical, responsible and sustainable perspective’.

For his part, José Enrique Rodríguez Coello emphasised: 'Obtaining ISO/IEC 42001 certification with AENOR places Balidea at the forefront of technological innovation in Galicia and reinforces the importance of establishing robust governance frameworks for emerging technologies. In a context in which artificial intelligence is transforming all sectors, standards such as ISO/IEC 42001 enable organisations to progress in line with best practice, transparency, and current social values. This is evident in Balidea's approach, which inspires utmost confidence in all its stakeholders'.

Also in attendance were Maria del Carmen López Pérez, our Head of R&D&I, and Daniel Echevarría, Balidea's Head of Organisation and Quality.

Innovation in healthcare and social care

ISO/IEC 42001 certification recognises our commitment to the responsible development of AI systems and highlights our innovative activity. In this field, we have been promoting the development of virtual assistants based on large language models (LLMs), which enable voice communication with digital tools. Noteworthy projects include those in the health and social care sector, focusing on the digitisation of health service management and administration.

Balidea Innovation Plan

This certification was obtained thanks to the Balidea Innovation Plan, which aims to promote innovation at all levels of the organisation to optimise processes, innovate products and services, and improve the internal structure. The Regional Government of Galicia funds this plan through grants awarded by the Galician Innovation Agency as part of the InnovaPeme programme.
